Favorite task?

Hey everyone. I was hopin to get an idea as to what your favorite task is in this business. What I mean by this is... what job do you enjoy doing the most, money aside. Personally my favorite job is doing the climbing for a nice removal over a house or power lines or something, but where I don't have to clean anything up. As far as administrative stuff goes I enjoy running around and doing deliveries, talking with customers, etc. Book work and I don't get along that well unfortunatley :(. As far as fert goes, I know it's fairly easy money, as well as good money. I just don't enjoy it. I have my liscence and get new fert accounts every year I just don't enjoy it is all.

So again, let's hear your favorite task.

I like mowing. I don't care if it is with a ztr, wb, or a 21", I like it all. I hate shrub trimming!!!!:)

My favorite is riding on the Lazer all day.

Second would be aerating and fescue seeding.

Third would be leaves.

I hate trimming!!

I like mowing large fields 5+ acres , sit down start a pass and turn around after 2 minnutes :D

Tasks: Depositing checks of cource!
When a customer signs at the big X.
Trimming shrubs for customers who dont trust themselves with trimmer/pruners, but are willing to pick up the mess.

I love trimming, cleaning up after is such a pain in the ***. Tips for that tho: Take an old riped up tarp, cut it up and lay it down under the shrub to catch the clippings, works great for (lava) rock beds.

I'm with Hoss on this one. Running the Lazer has GOT to be about the best feeling I could get for productivity. Sure, I like making the deposits, but being on the Lazer stays at the top of the list. I like THAT better than I like riding my quad, most of the time. Maybe it's because it's productive, I don't know.:)

I'm new both here and at 'that other board', but I've learned an amazing amount from y'all! My favorite thing to do is mow, by far. I love laying down those perfect lines and making the lawn look all nice! I like edging, too, since it gives such a professional clean-cut look. I HATE weeding flowerbeds and such, but thanks to you guys, I'm gonna be looking into putting down some kind of pre-emergent in some of my bigger planting areas next year. Hopefully that will let me spend more time just mowing! :cool:

I wouldnt necessarily try to pin point a service that gets rendered to clients. I too enjoy the banking thing as long as its deposits -LOL!!! I truely enjoy the transformation that the properties undergo throughout different months of the year.

I like the way things begin to look when the spring clean ups are complete and everything is in the budding stages. ,,, The manicured look properties take in the late spring when the landscape is in full bloom, and the turf has a rich green to it. ,,, Those finishing touches added during the early summer months when the shrubs and tress receive the pruning & shearing. ,,, The way that an early fall mulching revitalizes the overall appearance before the fall bulbs blossom. I even like how the snow forms a winter scape in association with the plantings while plowing -LOL!!!

I guess it would have to be the outdoor environment that I like best about this Industry.

I am a solo operator. My favorite task is blowing the walks and driveway. When I get to this phase I know I will be thru in 5 to 10 minutes. This is a sigh of relief.

First is mowing on the Scag.

Second is hedge trimming.

I don't really care for edging and string trimming, so I do them first just to get them out of the way. Same goes for if I'm going to use the 21".

edging a walk or drive that has been neglected. when i get a new customer it seems this is the first thing they notice & comment on.

I like using the blower at the end of the cleanup. It gives me the feeling that I've accomplished something. I also like talking with people about this work.

I have to like the selling point the best. Especially at the point when it make's a transition from the first time we talk, to the time they appreciate what I do and how much it helps the look of the property. That's always the time they get much friendlier and want to chat a while.

I enjoy working on my mowers , and keeping everything in good running order ,that includes washing and waxing my truck and enclosed trailer. I also enjoy winter break, We do not snow plow , so i get a physcial break for a couple of weeks. Allways enjoy chashing checks. I just love the freedom of being out side in the sunshine.

My favorite is laying down the stripes with the Lazer. I can lay down some excellent stripes w/ that York Sheet stripe roller!! I also love turning those weed patches into nice stands of turf.
