Mowed my lawn today. We just had 5" of rain the in the latter part of last week. The lawn has been needing mowing since before the rain. Dried out enough to do it today. It was 68 degrees here today, so I donned my shorts and went after it. Wasn't long before that "fat burner" (push mower) had me sweating. December and temps in the upper 60s with more to come! Sure has been an unusual fall, great for growing fescue. :)

Last week we had sleet and temps never got above 32 for two days. This week we will see highs of 68 - 72 degrees through thurs. At least the freeze has got a lot of leaves falling so we can start leaf cleanups.:)

Wasn't wearin' shorts today (up here in Canada) but I AM starting to get a bit  as to which month it is - see "Is it December or March???" in the snowplowing forum. As of Dec 3 last year, I'd already been out pushin' snow 3 times,

Ain't it cool?.............no...........warm.
Whatever it is I'm lovin' it. Last year was cold enough to last me a lifetime, never want to see that mess again.
Low's in the 50's.............highs in the mid 70's here in Bama.
And my fescue ain't germinating........................why???????????? ??

Homer,
I put some Fescue out at a customer's house a while back and it took almost 3 weeks to get it up. It was watered every other day, and the weather was warm most of the time. When it came up, I only had about 1/3 coverage. I don't know what the problem was, but I had to reseed. This new seed came up good in about 7 days. I think I got a sack of old, bad seed the first time. Hope you have better luck with yours.:)

After last week's 5 straight days of foggy mid 50s temps this week is great. Clear blue skies and temps in the mid to upper 60s all week. I was actually sweating doing a leaf cleanup yesterday. I wish every year was like this for me.

I was mowing and mulching some leaves yesterday when I noticed a very large forsythia that was blooming. When talking about it to the owner he mentioned that he has heard of azaleas blooming also. Wonder if the crappie are spawning? :)
