Well to all my careing friends I have moved(didnt have a choice)..My mother in law showed up yesterday with a moving truck, and said "lets get this S$#t together and get out of here"..So we are living with them till we can get back on our feet ..I hvae a whole new outlook on life and I really found out how much I love my wife and kids..I am going to be doing things differently.. I am going to upgrade the way I run my busines..meaning instead of saying it can wait till next time,,I will do it then..Ill now be able to save some money so Im gonna get more professional looking uniforms..(matching shorts/shirts/hats etc..)

To all my fellow LCO's(Florida if possible)I may need to learn how to bid residential alittle better..Can any of you give me some pointers that do work..What area some key factors that a customer will look at in deciding to hire you or not..Lately I start off by asking if they are unterested in a lawn service..Most just say "no I dont think so"..Thats as far as I get..Is there anything that I can reply with that might grab there interest??

In closing Id like to that everyone who has shown me support to my misfortune..I am going to be doung alot of praying (with family also) from now on..

P.S. I will have internet access so I will be able to stay with this huge community(family :D )

Take care

Chad

I've been watching in the background and I am happy that things are starting to look up for you. Consider changing your signiture to I will be stronger than ever in 2002.

You have lots going for you and you can make it. There is always someone who cares. Some will give moral support some will give whatever they can but it is human nature to empathize with someone who is down if you hav or have not been in that situation.

You have alot of the key tools for success, now you are starting to use them. I wish you the best and I am confident that you are on the right path. Never give up.

Many people in this world have had bad times and misfortune, I am one of these people too. Be a fighter and be persistant.

I will continue to pray for you and your family.

I think it would be helpful for you to get your business name in the phonebook. It works great for getting alot of calls, which will allow you to sort through and land some great accounts. Keep your head up and good luck!

I feel for you guys with families, luckily I'm on my own, and can do what ever I need to do to survive..:p I've skipped alot of meals and eat alot of potted meat sandwiches!!

I would say the way you present you self may not be as effective as who and where you market yourself. Any commercial sites around? If you haad teh time maybe a part time job to compliment - if the labor market is tight, you may be able to negotiate a lower wage, but pick up insurance.

Just some thoughts - I'm no expert. :)

I'm with Mow -

Remove that signature. Call yourself a bonehead enough times, and you start to believe it. Tell yourself you won't be around in 2002 enough times and, well.............

Tell yourself you're going to dominate your market enough times and, well.............:)

Chad, stay with the family prayer! Glad to hear that you're with it now. Most importantly, though, get to know the Author of the Word and nothing will deter you. Good luck and God bless you and your family. We'll pray for you tonight.

This is good advice!

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

Chad,
I'm so glad that things are turning around for you. Thank God for your mother-in-law. She sounds like a special woman. Cut her grass for free!
Man I started to reply to your post on more than one occasion. Even wrote some stuff, but I was afraid I would give you poor advice and make things worse for you. Stick around here and keep us posted. WE will be successful!
I'll remember you in my prayers. Hope you remember me in yours.
Bill Craig!

...and KEEP praying! Don't stop giving thanks for what you already DO have. So often, we ask in a time of need, then when we receive, we move on. This is not how it works.;) Also, someone mentioned a yellow pages ad. I'm sorry, but with all due respect, this is one of the WORST pieces of advice I've ever heard given on here! That's just what you need, to go from about losing a place to live and everything you own, to a $2800. bill for an ad and phoneline, so you can get a bunch of of hum-drums from 50 miles away asking you. "How much do you charge to cut a lawn?"
This topic has been discussed before, although it's probably due again in new venues, as the conclusion was, for the vast majority, it just isn't practicle. It was said before, that if we were doing something like just installations, sprinklers, or something like that, that is a one time deal, then perhaps. But for a clientele basis? No way. You can market your area, tighter to home. Good business decision. Good luck with it, and DO give thanks to "Mom" as well! ;)
