What would you guy's/gal's suggest for my next trailer? At the present time I have a 5x10 single axle. My equipment consist of a Walker MT 52" and a 21" Toro Pro-Line WB. With both on there it is FULL front to back. I'd like to put on a tool box on it and have some extra room in case I need to put something else on while I have my mowers on board. Open or Closed? I'm open for suggestions.
Thanks,
Mowman
I have a 6.5x12 and on that I can fit an Exmark Lazer Z HP 52", a Metro HP 48", and the 21" Airens. Not a whole lot of extra room with those three machines on it, but it works well. I would love a 14 or 16ft enclosed, but thats gonna have to wait for a while.

When I first got my 6.5' x 16' you could put a single walk behind on there, a push blower, a push mower, a 48" walker type machine, and a belly mount machine too. Now granted that trailer would be loaded, but it could do it. This summer I think it was I put a tool box in the bed behind the front bars or whatever you call them. So now it's only a 6.5' x 14. I think that it works out better like this, however I think I may over the winter move it up to the other side of the bars.

I would also recommend the 6.5 x 16 minimum. I would also think a split gate and electric brakes would come in handy too. :)
If its a custom order you could even have them add a gate to the side at the front for easier loading and unloading of smaller wb items aerators, push mowers, fert spreaders etc.
It might come in handy as well to have a storage cage welded to the front of the trailer (behind the other storage area -LOL!!!)
Just a thought.

14' at a minimum. 16' would be better. 18' best. I had a 14' last year and it was tight when the 36" and Lazer w/ ultravac on. I have an 18' now. I have enough room to put 3 mowers on, my tool, box and whatever else I need.
An enclosed would be nice, but I don't really want one. Then you have to upgrade the truck to handle the bigger trailer. All this adds up to higher fixed cost. That takes away from the bottom line and means you have to bring more in to cover expenses. Just my thoughts on an enclosed. Keeping expenses very low is how I do it.

My trailer is 6.5 x 16. I have a two layer cage up front that I carry misc. tools, fuel, round-up in. This is locked. It is a tandem trailer with electric brakes, and a 5-foot gate. I have everything TrimmerTrap makes welded to the thing to hold my trimmers, blowers, and such. I like the open trailer because it is more versatile for me. I can put a load of mulch on it, carry limbs etc. to the dump, or even load up a small tractor. If I had to park outdoors, I might consider an enclosed trailer.

Get the biggest trailer you can afford or you will regret it later. I started with a 5x8, then got a 6.5x14, then a 6.5x16, and now am up to a 7x18. Make sure you get a "Bulldog " hitch, brakes on at least one axle, and get 6,000 lb. axles instead of the 3,500 lb. axles that usually come standard. The big axles and tires are well worth the slight extra cost.:)

Definitely get the biggest trailer you can pull safely with your truck. And be sure to get brakes on it, they will save the brakes on your truck big time and plus it is safer.
I have a 6.5 x 18 footer, at times I wish I had a 7 x 20 footer.

I agree with Rich.Sometimes I wish I had a 40 ft trailer.Get brakes on both axles and the brakeaway kit.
