No, you are not alone on this. I think anyone with a nose can smell this. ;)
The only one I know of that could not smell this was my mother. She lost her sense of smell and taste in a bad car accident, which did not help her in being the best cook. :(

Nothing better than a freshly mowed hay field in the early evening.

I can sometimes smell it as I am cutting. Or maybe it's the Dog excriment:confused:

Man I love that smell. Especially in the spring after not mowing for awhile in the winter. Smells really good after being freshly mowed and a spring shower falls on it.

I cut so much grass that I dont even notice the smell anymore. Now that it has been brought up, I will try not to take that smell for granted anymore.

I can just be driving by, and smell it about a block away. Not to sound weird or anything, but it's like an aphrodisiac to me.:p Can you say aromatherapy? This was talked about before, and someone had mentioned they found some candles that had this scent.

I'm with you, I love the smell of fresh cut grass. Sometimes I wear some of it if the wind is blowing just right.

I believe the smell is the same chemical that you smell from pipe tabacco. It was a bonus question on an exam for a plant bio course.

The smell of cut grass is a mixture of six carbon green leaf volatiles including cis-3-hexen-1-ol, cis-3-hexenyl-acetate, trans-2-hexenyl acetate as well as some saturated compounds.
Go here and you can buy cut grass air freshener.

Ya'll are gettin' too swanky for me. I like the smell of cut grass, too. And like some others here, I can smell it a ways away and it seems to have a lifting effect on me, probably b/c it reminds me of growing up, in the country, on about 17 acres.

Its alright to smell it as long as you don't inhale.........:D
At the beginning of the season the smell of grass seems to be the only thing I dream of and it smells soooo good. But as the summer months trek onward the smell starts to lose its effect and I become less sensitive to it. This is not to say it has disappeared because my customers occasionaly comment of the great smell of the "freshly cut grass" after I finish up.

I grew up on a ranch in SD and spent a lot of time mowing alfalfa, and will never forget how good that smelled. Smelled good even in the dry years. I am like a lot of you - I smell it more when others are mowing - I think it is the exhause smells and whatever on the equipment that covers it when mowing yourself
Thanks, Brad

Makes one called green grass or something like that. I have one, my wife bought it for me as a joke, but I do like the smell!

The smell in the spring helps with cabin fever.

I didn't look for them on the web site, but if you can't find them, you should be able to e-mail them to inquire.
Good Luck!
