you'll have to re-time the deck.
i read where someone used 42" blades on top of 48" blades on a 48" ghs deck. i'm gonna give it a try and see what it does.
i have re-timed a 48" for doubles, it worked ok, but i was not overly impressed and very concerned as to damage which may occur if i hit something.
i use Raptor mulching blades (http://www.stens.com) with excellent results, reduced clippings and added perfomance to cut and stripe.

What is the purpose of putting doubles on a GHS deck? In my experience the GHS deck works just fine the way it is.
For approx. $1200 you can buy a 42" mulch deck with double blades on it. I use the 42" deck about 90% of the time. It does a beautiful job on grass. And will go through most back gates. And believe me, it will tear up a yard full of leaves. I can mulch a layer of 6" leaves in two passes and the yard will look like it was bagged. Wasting time making two passes..... Nope. Saving time and money. I don't have to dump or bag the leaves, don't have to empty trailer of leaves. Don't have to handle leaves at all.
I also have a 52" side discharge/mulch deck with double blades that does a good job on grass, but not so good on leaves.
Guess, what my point is, why take a chance of causing damage to a $10,000 mower by making modifications to it? Just buy the attachments made for it and you will be better off in the long run. That's just my opinion.

What do you mean by re-time? Also is it over all worth it Im going for a nice looking cut

the deck is gear driven and the blades overlap, if you were to put doubles on without retiming the gears the blades would hit each other.
when i tried this, it didn't change the cut much, it did vaccuum a little better, but not enough to make a difference.
