My hour/rpm meter has quit. Is replacing it a do it yourself job?

Thanks, Bill

Yes, it's an easy task. If you can get an hour reading off of the old one, I think it's important to keep track of it so you can keep running hour totals. I use a sharpie and write the hours and date of a tach change on the bottom of the seat. A Dixie will usually outlive many mini-tachs. I've had 7 on my '96 model.

Bill, can you tell me what one these tachs cost?

List price from a dealer is around $70.00, I think.

Thanks for the reply. 70.00 sure seems high.
My xw-60 with 22hp kohler command just quit while mowing. It has been at the dealer for a week and a half waiting on a "brain". I like the mower but dixie does seem to be lacking when it comes to service.

Let me know what service issues haven't been properly addressed, and we'll see what we can do. I have always been thrilled with service I receive.

I believe the part you are waiting for comes from Kohler not from Dixie Chopper.Did your dealer request the part to be overnighted from his Kohler distribuitor? If your engine is under warranty Kohler will pay the freight.I hope your unit is up and running soon.Good luck! :)

Check out the Tiny Tach website. You can get the same tach for $37 directly from Tiny Tach http://tinytach.com/tinytach.html.

DC Service, you should check into this. As you have seen in my past posts, I believe in supporting DC and my local dealer, but to have to pay more than 100% markup over retail, not wholesale, is ridiculous!

I live in northern Kentucky. In July of 1998 I bought a XW220060 from the Company rep since there was no dealer in the area. ($9,000.00)

It has been a pretty good mower but when I have needed service it has not been smooth. In May of 2001 I had one spindle that was taking grease through the zert fitting but it was not getting to the bearings. I took the spindle to the listed dealer in Lexington. It took me a month to get it back with new bearings.

I have taken the mower to dealer in Versailles, Ky for routine service with good results but that in a long drive.

My last experience was with a new dealer within 16 miles of my home. The mower just stopped running while mowing. I took mower to this dealer (Company rep happen to be there when I arrived). The next day when I called they told me it needed a 'brain' and it was ordored. They told me it came from Kohler but had to be ordered from Dixie. Three time I was told it would be in the next day. It took 14 days to get mower back. They replaced the Speed Advance Module and Battery. $186.11

I was probably there first Dixie Chopper customer. It just looks like the rep would have followed this up. I live on the same road this dealer is on. Several have asked me why I was using my neighbor's red mower.

Sorry for the long post.
