I have a 72" xt-3000. for the last couple of weeks it has become increasingly hard to start. I'll crank on it for about 2 minutes before it will start. It smells like it is flooding itself out. Any suggestions?

Are you trying to start it at idle? try starting it at 1/2 throttle and no choke if you smell gas.You may want your dealer to check it for you :)

I had them check it out. They thought it was water in the gas. They then checked the gas and it wasn't. They basically did nothing after that. Talked with Mr. Lucas a little bit ago and he told me to try NGK plugs and see if that helps. I have tried 1/2 throttle, full, and no throttle, choke and still nothing. If the plugs don't help, what would be my next step?

Brock, I'm sorry that I've never told you about the NGK plugs. That is definately the way to go.

I had same problem. There is a forum about. Take it to Dixie chopper dealer, needs new flywheel and coil. Mine works perfect now.

Called NAPA to see about the NGK plugs for the 32 Generac, well the number above he informed me was too short and not a valid number. I checked on the demo 3200 that I'm dropping back off tomorrow morning, and it has the BKR4E's in it. Thought I'd pass this along.

Went to my dealer to get the plugs today (45 min. drive) and they did not have them and had not even heard of the NGK's being used in the Generac engines. My dealer is freakin awesome..... Glad I drove up there. Then I asked them to order them and have them shipped to my house. They said they can't. I have to come pick them up. STORE POLICY.

Man that sucks... Isn't there an automotive parts store or motorcycle shop closer? I would hate to drive 45 minutes each way TWICE for 2 plugs. In fact, I would try to find an internet site to order them before I would spend the gas to drive there again. Maybe I'm just old and cranky..... :)

Grassguy, check at an auto supply store like NAPA, Autozone, O'Reilly's or local equivalent. I picked up 2 at NAPA today for a whopping $4.14.

The plug for the 30 and 32 hp. engines is NGK.. " ZFR4F-11 " This plug fires a little hotter spark and has a longer reach. Here is Texas, the gap that works the best is .025. This plug is carried by the Dixie Chopper parts department.
