After checking with Kohler,The engine should work if you swap out the carb and air filter from the old motor.Good luck! :)

DC Service, why do u say to swap the carb from his old motor. Is the carb that much different if its not a Kohler(dixie) motor. I just replaced mmy motor and just got a 25hp for it. same size diam but length was too long. Am I going to have to replace my carb.

What is so different about them.

What about the same engine with a longer shaft? Will it work as is? Can a shaft be changed or shortened? In case you are wandering I have found one for $350 less, but has the long shaft.

Kohler reccomends using the proper crankshaft,it may be possible to have it machined to work, but I would not go this route.Everyone thinks that a motor is a motor, but the way the equipment mfg specs out the engine(better bearings, better carb and fuel pump, better oil pump, etc)determines if the motor will last in the application for which it will be used.Thats why it is so important to write down your Model,Spec, and Serial #s when you purchase a machine. This way you can order the right parts(also if you powerwash your motor you could blast the #s off the decal),and you also have a written record of your motors #s in case your unit is stolen :)

Moose you need to check with a Kohler dealer with the spec.#s of your new motor. If you post them I will try to help you. :)

DC Service, The #'s are 69541. Like I said the shaft was longer but I cut it to the length I need.

Thanks

I checked with Kohler and the carbs are different. They could not tell me what the difference is,so I would stick with what you have if there are no problems with it.Good luck :)

The EPA has made the engine manufactor make the carb with a fixed jet that matches the airfilter for that engine. We dealers can no longer get new jets, we have to buy and replace complete carbs. If the replacement engine was setup at the factory to run with a HeaveyDuty airfilter(more restrictive,it will have a smaller jet size to give the right amount of fuel) if you install this on an engine with a standard Kohler airfilter(less restrictive filter, I.E. more air) the engine will run lean and possibly burnup. Today you need to get the Spec. number that is made for your machine. I had a customer that bought an engine from a wholesale house, upon checking the engine was made for Murray in 1994 and was rated as a 400 hour engine. Also Kohler makes 25HP command engines for Sears and MTD(Cub Cadet) that are 400 hour rated engines
