View Full Version : Can I replace studs. Or will I need the whole hub?
Broke off 2 studs today. In the parts diagram it looks as if I have to buy the whole hub.

I understand the hardship of finding some of Dixies parts, I just looked through 6 parts manuals before finding the part number for the lug bolt
#B-226 and the lug nut #N-113. I know I have them in stock and could go look in the parts bin to find the part number, but I wanted to look for them in a parts book just to see how long it would take. I was 15 minutes looking for that breakdown that shows the studs and nuts. Also, my customer have tried to find them in an Auto parts store, only to find 8 different studs, but they could not find the one to fit a Dixie.

It will be best to take the hub off and beat the studs in.
I replaced all of mine and they are not easy with a 1000 ft# of torque air impact and several BFH's.
Also you can mess up the wheel motors,.
So take the hubs off to replace studs.
OH expect to spend a good half hour for each one.

Sometimes if you apply a little heat to the hub the studs will almost fall into place. If you want you can also put the studs into a freezer before-hand too. It's certainly a lot easier than BFHs. And easier on the hub and studs.
