:headscra: I'm a first time owner of a new xt-3000 that bought a couple months ago. I only have 25 hours on it but it has been using what is in my opinion alot of oil. With the oil level on the full mark when I start mowing till when I'm finished,(which is generally about 5 hours) it is barely touching the bottom of the dipstick. I don't see any leaks and this has been consistent since I bought it. Is this usage normal with low hours or do you think there is a problem. Also uses about 12 gals. of gas in this five hours.
Thanks,
GM

Your engine will use oil untill it gets broken in.Gradually as the rings seat in to the cylinder walls, you will use less oil.Good luck with your new Dixie Chopper! :)

I would keep an eye on it for a while longer. If it is still using that much oil at
50hrs, I would get it in for the dealer to look at.At least, contact your dealer, let him know you are worried, and get his opinion. Usually, I do not get worried about oil consumption until an engine gets 100hrs on it. However, at the low rate you are putting on hrs, it might get out of warranty before you reach 100hrs.

This engine has a three year warranty on it. It will use some oil and a tad more fuel.... but this really depends on the work load it is taking on. In normal mowing conditions, after it is broke in, 1.8 gals per hour is about the norm. This is higher then other manufactures but remember, it is cutting more acres per hour. So in the long run it should be a wash, say, versus a Kohler.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, my computer has been down for a week. I'm going to contact the dealer just so he will be aware of it and in the meantime I will keep running it. I do admit I have alot more mower than I need but after taking literally all day to cut my yard on my ole Sears all I can do now is :biglaugh: . I appreciate everyones opinions in this matter and will let you know what happens in the near future. Thanks again.
