You should engage your blades slowly, but firmly at about 1/2 throttle to give the blades a chance to start turning before they are fully engaged.Your dealer should have explained that to you when you took delivery of your new Dixie Chopper.I strongly recommend reading the owners manual, and if you still have a problem, contact your dealer for assistance.Good luck with your new Dixie Chopper! :)

To ansmer your question... it would seem there is something wrong with your unit. It should not kill the engine engaging the blades at 3000 rpm. If you were to engage the blades as " DC Service " advises, you would be able to engage the deck at 1475 rpms. Therefore 3000 should be more then enough. DC Service gives great advice and insight, I think he missed the point of your question. But we forgive him and luv him anyway.

We all know Generacs are real cold blooded. If she's trying to engage a new machine with a new belt in Indiana in january, there may be nothing wrong with the unit. Rubber shrinks when cold, so the belt is probably really tight, along with the characteristic cold blooded generac, well, you get the picture. I'd call the dealer and make him aware of it, and wait till spring to see if it still does it. Remember, most Generacs I've seen or worked on idle at like 1650 rpm!!! Might be a governor issue, but I think it's a COLD issue. Just my .02 Besides, is it a 32 generac or a 28 efi. She has an SP 3200. I believe the SP are Kohler 28 efi. the XT should be 3200. If it is the EFI motor, blades should be on a 2000 even in the cold. JOHN
