Hello,

I have a 93 X2400 chopper and a 2004 XT3200. The older unit is just used as a backup for now, but I have some soccer fields to mow this weekend for a soccer tourny and would like to use both machines. The hydrolic fluid looks to be a little low on the X2400 (22 HP), and i was wondering what i could add to it just to be on the safe side. I just need to use it for a few hours. I had planned on getting it upgraded to VTC around mid season but cant have it done before the weekend. I will have to say that there is nothing wrong with the way it runs and drives now, just dont want it to run dry while im out using it. also, how much to add? Thanks!! :)

The VTC is no longer available :sadly: but you could check with your dealer to see if he has any Schaffers 15W40(what came in your unit) left over.I do not recommend mixing different types of oil.You can switch over to Lucas 15W40 which is whats being used now :)You should have a dipstick on the filler cap,but if you don't cover the baffles in the tank

My machine was delivered in August of 2004. It has the VTC oil sticker on it. I just looked in the parts manual and did not see anything about the hydro oil capacity. How much does it take to change it ?

Thanks

The system holds 2.5 gallons of oil.You might not get it all out,but a little VTC in the system won't hurt it.Use the Lucas 15W40 Extended Drain Truck Oil. :)

It took a bit of time, after Lucas was being used in the units, before the "new" sticker was placed on the oil tank itself. Your unit might very well be filled with Lucas. If there is any doubt, and you want the benifits derived from Lucas oil, according to Mr. Lucas himself, you can drain about a quart of oil from the tank..replace the drained quart with " Lucas Hydraulic Oil stabilizer and stop leak. This will give the oil most of the properties of using "straight" Lucas Oil. This is an excellent maintance item for a machine that does not have Lucas Oil and there are still several hundred hours before the next oil change is due.
