I purchased a 1998 XW2500-60 about 3 few years ago. I regularly change oil, grease fittings etc and it has worked great. It has ~250 hrs on it. After I bought it I noticed a few drips of oil on the floor under the right sundstrand pump (not quite sure where on the pump it comes from). The pump housing is oily but there were never more than a few drops on the floor any given week.

Last week I changed the hydro oil and filters. I used the mower afterwards for a few hours and it worked fine. However, I noticed this morning there is a sizeable puddle under the pump. I checked the reservoir and it had dropped from full to the lower mark on the dipstick. I stated the mower and while it runs nothing leaks out and the steering etc works fine. Could this be a o ring or gasket or something more major? Also, is the repair something I can do myself? Any ideas on how to proceed?

Thanks

Bring the unit to your dealer for proper diagnosis.Until your are sure what is leaking, there is no need to speculate on a repair. It could be a loose fitting,a gasket or a seal, but without a qualified mechanic looking at it,there is no easy way to tell.Good luck and let us know what you find.
