What oil do you recomend for a new XT3200-60 for both the hydro and the engine. I am contemplating using AMSOIL. Thanks, John

Your mower should have come with the Lucas 15W40 oil in it from the factory. This is all Dixie is using in the new mowers coming off the assembly line. I'd recommend staying with it especially in the Hydros.

Thanks for the replies, I just bought this mower, having a few problems with it, it only has about 4 hours on it, I think that the deck is out of adjustment. But overall i am really impressed, I mean everything has a few tiny problems. One thing that I really am not impressed with is the paint on the OCDC, it looked used it was so messed up, faded and rusted. DC needs to fix this and offer something to current owners. Also, what makes Lucas better than Amsoil? Thanks, John

DC Service... I was looking at the Amsoil site... Lucas is one of the only "quality" oil that Amsoil does not do a comparision with. This would lead one to believe : perhaps Lucas is a superior oil and Amsoil avoids a comparision on purpose ?

I just looked at the comparison page and would guess they compare with the most popular or "best selling" oils. I'm sure Lucas is definitely not in that catagory. Those other tested oils are available at Wal-mart type stores and Lucas is not. If you are curious, you can e-mail Amsoil and ask them if they have tested Lucas. If you do, I would be curious about Amsoil's answer. I am an Amsoil dealer and soon have to decide whether to use Amsoil or Lucas 15-40 in my XT3200-72. DC service, if you have any hard data to back up your statement, I sure would like know about it. Don't worry about offending me, facts are facts, good or bad. :)

(1) The Lucas products are 100% petroleum, the Amsoil is not 100% synthetic
(2) Lucas has the higest TBN (Total Base Number) in the world (16) which affects lubricity and cooling.
(3) Lucas uses an anti-foaming agent,(which reduces heat) Amsoil has none.
While Amsoil makes some great products(Dixie Chopper uses their Bypass Oil Filter) the Lucas is just a better product! I have spoken to Lucas on this issue, and any further questions will be referred to this post. :)

Could you clarify a little please? Isn't synthetic better?
It seems like you are saying Lucas is better because it is 100% conventional oil while Amsoil is mostly(?) synthetic.
Am I misunderstanding? Thanks.

Amsoil Advertises that their oil is synthetic, when in fact ALL motor oil starts out from petroleum based products. I just think Lucas makes a better product.I don't want to get in a PI**ING contest over oil,but I spoke to the engineers at Lucas and this is what they told me. :)
