View Full Version : The REASON WHY I started this forum

Eric ELM
12-02-2001, 06:53 PM
Just so you will know.

I did not get kicked off of LS, I stepped down as Administrator there on my own.

I wanted to start a forum where I could talk about my equipment and share other ideas I have that can make a forum informative. I could not talk about my equipment there and that was one thing I used to enjoy doing until I was not allowed to do so. I put in some long days there, as many as 18 hours a day several times and really enjoy doing this sort of thing. I decided I might as well do it for myself instead of someone else. I also want you to know, the members here came on their own and so did the moderators. I have not asked for Sponsors, but I have 2 now and 3 more want to get on board possibly. The last I heard, Chuck and I are still friends and he said we would always be friends. I didn't realize how many friends I had on the internet until now. :)

Please do not post any negative things about LS here. I do not want a bad name.

Thanks for reading this.

I'm glad to hear that Eric, That was one thing that was bugging me too.

Our equipment is our life, talk and ask away.

Although a lot of us are brand orintated, like myself.

I don't understand why you couldn't talk about that stuff over there?

I'm just happy you started this site. I know you know your stuff and I'm going to follow you. You are an expert!! And I know I can learn alot more here from you then some of the people that were BSing over there.

been wonderin' what happened.

i enjoy hearing input from others equipment.

Dixies have been perfect for you, and you should be able to express your "experienced" opinion.

it's hard not to expess your opinion on something you spend half your life on.

I might not own a Dixie, but I still like hearing about them, as well as all of the other brands. Who knows, One day, if my situation calls for a rider, I may want to buy one, due to all the info I've learned from you Eric. Thanks

I have close to 10,000 hours on ZTR's which at 10 mph would be 100,000 miles. That is 4 times around the world on those things so I do spend a lot of time in the saddle, so to speak. :)

Maybe that is one reason I have gotten the straight lines down fairly good. ;)

Best wishes Eric! I'm sorry I didn't make the trip sooner but I was at the firehouse and didn't have the right E-mail. Had to wait till I got home to the cable modem.

I decided I might as well do it for myself instead of someone else.

isn't that why we all started doing what we're doing?...cause we know we can do things better ourselves than with someone else? best of luck!...i'll be around...

Eric,

What you are doing is what makes the world go round! The "OTHER" site was very useful in the starting of my lawn care business and YOUR site was just as helpful! All the post that I have read "OVER THERE" that you created and/or replyed to was one of the deciding factors to hop on over here. I would of come over a lot sooner, but it took be a little while to figure out what was going on. ( a lot of vanishing posts, if you know what I mean!). Anyway....BEST OF LUCK! And I'll be here to stay!!!

The best part is we don't have to listen to the whiners say "Do a search"...LOL...there's nothing to search for yet. Now maybe we'll get some new and different opinions.

Very glad to hear Chuck and Eric are still friends, and hope they always feel there is room in this world for more than one. We at Flex-Deck have banners and a sponsor forum on both, and will continue to support both. These forums have allowed me to get a product that is new and revolutionary exposed and discussed by true Professionals in the Lawn Care Industry. I am dentist in a small town (SE Iowa) and it has been a real challenge to get a product patented, tested, built, ANSI tested, and Marketed.

As one person in town said "If you plow a long enough furrow, you will usually uncover something"

Over the last 4 years, with a limited budget - I have probed different ways to get the idea national, and the Louisville Expo and these forums at this point in time have been the keys to getting us to where we are today.

Thanks, Brad

Good statement Eric!

I hope you do well in your new challenge. I hope there is no ill will. I posted a thank you for your hard work over there and it turned out to be less than that and got deleted. I think, and know that you have put in long hours with nothing to show for but a sense of accomplishment and now you will be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

I know that you enjoy what you do and this will definitely not only keep you happy, but also give you and all of us a sense of pride.

Best Wishes

Dana

Eric --- very glad to be a part of your new forum. I too have great respect for you and appreciate your comments. I learned a lot about lawn care on the other forum, but the best thing I learned was from you?. the double blade set up. That one tip alone has made a dramatic improvement in the way my properties look when I finish. Thanks for your wisdom, and thanks for this new forum.

Ron.

Eric,
Just want to say GOOD LUCK with your/our new site. I had a little trouble getting registered but I guess things are right cause I'm able to post.
Like MOW ED said I hope no one has a PROBLEM with me BRAGGING about my WALKER. As I've said before they are not the FASTEST mower out there but for me it is the mower that WORKS BEST. As this business grows and I have the need for a larger, faster mower the DIXIE will be my first CHOICE.
Thanks again for starting this new site.

Eric, I also wanted to say thank you. But for a different reason. I feel like I got (and continue to get) valuable information from Lawnsite, and would feel uncomfortable, if not hypocritical, criticizing them. I benefitted from that forum and will always be grateful.

I also hope to benefit from this forum. I'm sure there will be a sense of competition (biz owners spend many days and nights thinking about the competition), but that's not for me to worry about. My interest is to help out here where I can, and continue to reap the benefits of forums.

So thank you Eric for not making this an 'us against them' thing.

Good luck!

Eric, I, as well, am very glad you started this forum. As we all know, bigger is not always better. The "other" forum is getting inundated with kids, and I don't have a problem with children, but most of their input was and is useless. Most just use it, in my opinion, to see how many posts they can make. I'm glad to be over here...................Lynn

Hometown

I have it set as 15 for the limit on lenth of names. If you set it to more, it can mess up the width of some posts.

I can change it to just Hometown if you want or some abreviation of Landscaping.
