    Blade sharpening.

    Hi...
    I'm new to this site.
I'm very surprised that it's not very active.

    However, my question is...
Is there a set angle that blades should be sharpened at ?
    Thanks for all your responses.
    I'll check back tomorrow..

Kevin, welcome to lawnforums! Im not sure if there is an exact angle, however i try to keep the angle that new blades are set at from the manufacturer.I use a 6" grinder,so i just try to keep it as close as possible to original. If you have a dedicated grinder im sure it would be easy to set it to the exact angle you want.

Most of the studies I've read from manufacturers suggest a 30 degree angle. In their studies manything were factored in blade sharpness and longitivity, productivity, less tearing of the grass blades, and many agronomic benefits.

1 time per year when I buy new blades I set the angle to the new blade on my grinder, then just try to keep it as close as possible, I have not noticed much difference with the angle affecting things as long as they are kept on a 90 degree angle at the tips.
